What is the ChatGPT app? Getting started with the future of AI….

By Emily

The Chat GPT app was released in November 2022. I’ve never seen anything, technology or otherwise, grow in popularity as quickly, or as widely, as this. I use Twitter a lot for following other developers, people who build and run SAAS’s, and other SEO focused niche site builders. And ChatGPT has most definitely been the buzzword blasting it’s way through each of those communities.

What started as an excited rumble has rapidly – and by rapidly I mean at lightning speed – reached a frenzied crescendo of excitement at the possibilities it offers to each of us. But with that excitement comes a growing worry.

If ChatGPT can write a book, write a song, and build an app then what happens to the copywriters, songwriters, and software developers? I’m a software developer and myself and my peers are starting to wonder what our professional field will look like next year, let alone in 5 years from now.

What is ChatGPT?

Since November 2022 ChatGPT has been updated several times with the most recent release ChatGPT 4 widely heralded as a quantum leap forward, akin to the first release of the home computer, or indeed the internet. It’s being reported as such a monumental step forward that it’s simply impossible to imagine how we’ll use it, and how it will shape our lives in the years to come. It’s worth mentioning that there is no Chat GPT app – you can use it from the OpenAi.com website.

I asked Chat GPT 4 what it was, and this is what it said:

What is chat gpt 4

Learn how to use the Chat GPT app

So I’m going to start learning how to use Chat GPT ai to see how it can help me. I’m going to find out if there’s a skill to using the prompts. I want to understand how accurate the information it provides us with is, and whether I need to start to pivot from Software Developer to Chat GPT Prompt Engineer!

I’ve signed up for access to the Chat GPT API, but in the meantime I’ll be using the chatgpt chatbot and I’ll write a post about the experience. When I’m done I’ll come back and update this post with a summary.

Let’s go…..
